RSPCA Conference

We were very pleased to welcome the RSPCA to education centre for a bespoke course focusing on the many aspects of the UK trade in primates. All too often the RSPCA’s exotics officers are called to situations only to find solitary primates living in appalling conditions and the course was designed to better prepare them for this far too common scenario.
We covered a wide variety of topics throughout the week including common health problems, physiological welfare issues, species identification, sexing, enclosure structure, diet, social grouping, and Defra’s Code of Practice to name just a few. We also included a visit to Monkey World providing the officers with the chance to tour their fantastic purpose built small monkey facilities and meet some of the primates that had been victims of the UK pet trade.
